Hello!

I’m Mackenzie, a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate at Sharp Wellness supervised by Dr. Lisa Grubbs, Ph.D., LPC-S. I like to think of myself as your greatest ally, someone who will get down in the mud with you and help you pull yourself out of it. I help adolescents and adults navigate our unpredictable world and learn how to love themselves in the process.

My mission is to cultivate a space in which you feel safe to come as you are and discover your authentic self. I view therapy as an ongoing, collaborative process in which we will establish and revisit goals together. I utilize a trauma-informed lens when examining client issues and believe that the past can provide insight into the present. While I have experience working with clients of a variety of ages and backgrounds, I am particularly passionate about building safe spaces for teens and young adults to explore their identity and work through their various anxieties.

  • Worry Warrior

With my personal experience with anxiety and professional training, I understand what you're going through and can help you tackle it. Anxiety manifests differently for everyone; you might experience physical symptoms, or perhaps you notice it when you're caught in a thought spiral. No matter how it appears, I have tools to help you manage these symptoms. From there, we can explore your relationship with anxiety and uncover its roots. Whether you're dealing with generalized anxiety, social anxiety, or panic attacks, I'm here to help you regain control over your nervous system and your life.

  • Trauma-Informed

As a trauma-informed therapist, I provide a safe, compassionate space for healing and growth. Trauma can take many forms—whether it's a single distressing event or ongoing experiences that overwhelm the nervous system, leaving lasting emotional and physical effects. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help clients process and integrate these experiences, reducing their impact on daily life. My approach is client-centered, recognizing the unique ways trauma affects each individual and empowering them to navigate their healing journey with resilience and self-compassion. You can read more about EMDR in one of our blog posts here.

  • Parts of a Whole

I like to incorporate Internal Family Systems (IFS) into my counseling approach to help clients understand and connect with the different parts of themselves. It’s similar to how the characters of Inside Out are portrayed - each of our parts has its own character that interacts with the others! IFS is a compassionate, evidence-based model that views the mind as made up of various sub-personalities or “parts,” each with its own thoughts, emotions, and roles. Some parts may carry wounds from the past, while others work to protect us in different ways. Through IFS, we create a safe space to explore these parts, heal from past experiences, and access the core Self—the calm, confident center that fosters balance and inner harmony.

  • More About Me

Outside the office, you’ll find me having a cozy night at home with my cats, watching the latest episode of whatever reality television show is currently out. I also love to play video games with my partner and get dinner with my book club! I've just recently begun traveling and will always take recommendations on cool places to visit.

"Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing we'll ever do."
